My work moves across sculpture, installation, painting, video, sound, light, and spatial experience. Across these forms I have explored identity, embodiment, transformation, regeneration, contemplative states, and the relationship between perception and environment. Some works exist as discrete objects; others are immersive environments designed to be entered and experienced through the body as well as the eye.
Cycles of Regeneration was a month-long, approximately 40-by-40-foot multisensory installation exploring elemental processes of transformation and regeneration. The environment integrated original video, suspended sculptural forms, composed music, light, spatial design, and sensory elements. Visitors entered and moved through the work rather than encountering it from a single viewing position.
The installation emerged during a period of intensive contemplative study with Master Eveli Sabatie and close artistic and philosophical mentorship with sculptor Dennis L. Jones. During this period, contemplative inquiry, the study of mind and consciousness, and immersive art-making became increasingly interrelated in my work.
Cycles of Regeneration. Installation, Solar Culture Gallery, Tucson, Arizona, 2010.
In the Moment. Installation, Flow Gallery, Tucson, 2010.
In the Moment was a three-month immersive installation built around darkness, sound, tactile enclosure, acoustic experimentation, and contemplative attention. Two identical concave forms, created from repurposed domed architectural windows and finished in iridescent blue automotive paint, were positioned through experimentation until a whisper produced near one became strikingly audible to a person near the other. The surrounding room was almost completely dark and lined with black faux fur and cushions, while a repeating sound composition combined Tibetan monks chanting Om, binaural frequencies, a human heartbeat, and meditative breathing. The work invited visitors to sit, listen, and enter a sustained contemplative state.

The Middle Path, 2010. Installation using reclaimed railroad ties, industrial glass blocks, Plexiglas, and a continuous vinyl image print composed from microscopic imagery of ova and sperm, the sun and moon, and other male and female biological and symbolic forms. The work was arranged so that the viewer physically walked between these opposing polarities. By placing the body literally within the space between extremes, the installation turned the idea of the “middle path” into an embodied position rather than an abstract concept. Tucson, Arizona.
Self Inquiry. 2019. Acrylic on canvas. Installed Virginia at private residence.
Trāṭaka, 2025. Acrylic on canvas. Virginia.
The work draws on the traditional yogic kriya of steady candle-gazing, followed by closing the eyes and observing the flame’s visual afterimage internally. For me, the practice expresses the refinement of attention and the capacity to witness thought and recurring patterns of consciousness from within.
Ūrdhva-Mūla Aśvattha, 2026. Acrylic on canvas. Virginia.
Drawing on the yogic image of the inverted Aśvattha tree, the roots emerge from the crown and reach upward toward knowledge, consciousness, and the unseen sources of understanding. What is absorbed through contemplative perception moves downward through the embodied practitioner, branching into thought, sensation, relationship, creativity, and the flourishing of a life in the world. For me, the image expresses the movement between inner inquiry and embodied life that continues to inform both my contemplative and creative work.
